Email the Commish September 1st, droppings September 30th, 2001 draft

News in the SCHL

June 23rd - NHL draft is now complete with some huge names making waves.  The biggest of all is the Yashin deal to Ottawa.  GM of the Tycoons, Blake, had this to say about the news, "Well I'm not upset or happy, but I am glad that he'll get a big fat contract and will be happy for at least a few years."  Other SCHLers changing teams are:
Yashin - Islanders
Peca - Islanders
V Bure - Panthers
Brathwaite - Blues
Turek - Flames
Bartecko - Atlanta
R Niedermayer - Flames
Lumme - Stars
Varlamov - Blues
Graves - Sharks
Connolly - Sabres

And oh ya!  There was also draft. Atlanta snapped up Ilya Kovalchuk and Ottaw got Jason Spezza.  Both are expected to be pick high in this years SCHL Entry Draft.

June 14th
- John LeClair signs a 5 year deal.  Worth around 9 million per season.  The Blake Roaddogs will be happier, I'd assume.  But were unreachable due to their vacation in the
Himalayas.

June 10th - Robert Reichel is now a Leaf and finally gets signed. This is big news for the Rattray Rowdy Kilts.  The Kilts will have a deeper team this fall and will look to get revenge on a injury plaged season.

June 8th - The Mitchell Coyotes and Vancouver Millionaires kick off the summer with a trade.  The Coyotes sending Paul Mara, Peter Scaffer and a 2nd rounder in 2001 for star defenseman Sergei Zubov.  (3 for 1 deal).  This will improve the weak D of the Coyotes.  Zubov said he was sad to leave Vancouver.  And he cried all throughout the press conference.  "I've had a good time here in Vancouver.  I was twice their assist man, and I don't know if I'll ever get a chance like that again."  Zubov was draft originally by the Millionaires in the '98 draft.

June 7th
